This exceptional specimen features a Vespidae wasp inclusion preserved within Baltic Amber, formed during the Eocene Epoch (approximately 44–49 million years ago). Baltic Amber from the Samland and Lithuanian coastline, including the locality of Juodkrantė, is world-renowned for producing some of the most scientifically significant fossil insect inclusions ever studied. This specimen represents an ancient relative of modern social wasps, offering a rare glimpse into early Cenozoic terrestrial ecosystems.

The 10.8 mm amber piece displays rich golden–honey coloration typical of high-grade Baltic succinite, with excellent optical clarity for viewing morphological structures. Under magnification, key anatomical features of the wasp can be examined — including segmented antennae, wing venation, and thoracic and abdominal morphology — making this an ideal candidate for collectors with an interest in paleoentomology, evolutionary biology, or Eocene insect diversity.

Baltic Amber formed from the fossilized resin of prehistoric conifer forests that once dominated Northern Europe. As resin flowed down tree trunks, insects were trapped, entombed, and sealed away in oxygen-poor conditions, halting decay and preserving even delicate features. Wasp inclusions such as this one are invaluable for understanding ancient pollination networks, predator-prey relationships, and the evolution of Hymenoptera.

Ethically sourced from the Juodkrantė region of Lithuania, this specimen has not been altered, dyed, or artificially enhanced. It is housed in a professionally labeled display case for safe storage, long-term preservation, and educational use.

For both collectors and researchers, this fossil represents a scientifically meaningful and visually striking example of Eocene life beautifully preserved in amber.
