Add a genuine piece of prehistoric ocean history to your collection with this authentic fossil Isurus hastalis shark tooth, measuring 2.06" long by 1.14" wide. This extinct broad-toothed mako shark lived during the Middle Miocene, approximately 15.5 million years ago, when fast-swimming predators dominated ancient seas.
This specimen displays the classic traits of Isurus hastalis, including a smooth, blade-like crown with no serrations, glossy natural enamel, and a well-preserved root. Its sleek cutting profile reflects the mako’s role as a high-speed open-ocean hunter built for piercing prey rather than sawing.
Recovered from Golden Beach (Venice), Florida, a renowned fossil locality, this tooth formed in a marine environment known for producing beautifully preserved shark teeth. All coloration and surface texture are the result of natural fossilization, with no repair or restoration. A highly sought-after location amongst collectors.
Whether you’re a seasoned fossil collector, educator, or first-time buyer, this mako shark tooth makes an excellent display specimen, educational piece, or unique prehistoric gift.
Fossil mako shark teeth from Isurus hastalis and Isurus planus are prized for their symmetry, sharp cutting edges, and glossy enamel. These extinct relatives of the modern great white (Carcharodon carcharias) and modern shortfin mako (Isurus oxyrinchus) lived during the Miocene and Pliocene epochs and are often admired for their resemblance to juvenile Megalodon teeth, though mako teeth lack serrations, are defined thick, and have a slimmer cutting profile.
Color variations depend on fossilization conditions and may include shades of tan, gray-blue, charcoal, or beige. These teeth are commonly recovered from coastal deposits, riverbeds, and other fossil-rich marine formations.

I can't say enough about the customer service I received, from start to finish. I received my Megalodon tooth today, and was completely blown away! Was way above all expectations that I had!! And the stand is Perfect! Shipping was fast as well!! I will definitely be doing business with Fossil Driven again in the near future! Thanks again!!!!
The tooth fossil is awesome. Way cooler than I thought it would be. Condition seems great. I got a stand with it that works well and looks good. This is my first fossil, but definitely will be the start of a collection.
My only critique is that the authentication card and stand placard are not of a high quality and the aesthetic is a little cheesy. That’s easily improved and that actual item is fantastic.
Indo posty! This specifically has been on my wish list and the one I got is perfect! I Love it so much. Exactly as described. Looks better in person. Exactly like the pictures. Shipped fast, packaged securely. Literally so happy and will be displaying it with pride. Thank you!
