About This Specimen

This tooth has nicely preserved enamel ridges and a great root structure, with no wear to the top of the tooth. Meaning, this mammoth never got to fully use this tooth to grind that Ice Age vegetation that it used to feed on. The photos show the exact tooth you will receive. A great specimen for any collection

About the Woolly Mammoth

The woolly mammoth, Mammuthus primigenius, lived across the cold steppes of Europe, Asia, and North America during the Pleistocene Ice Ages. Its molars were made of stacked enamel plates, built for grinding grasses, and a single adult tooth could weigh several pounds. Woolly mammoth teeth are some of the most iconic Ice Age fossils a collector can own.

Where This Fossil Comes From: North Sea

During the last Ice Age, sea levels were so low that the southern North Sea was dry land, a region now called Doggerland that connected Britain to mainland Europe. Woolly mammoths, rhinos, and other Ice Age animals lived there. Today, fishing boats and dredges working off the coast of the Netherlands pull up their bones and teeth from the sea floor.
