Where This Fossil Comes From
This tooth was recovered from the dark, gator and shark-infested fossil-bearing rivers of Savannah, Georgia, a region famous among collectors for yielding well-preserved Megalodon teeth and other shark fossils. Over millions of years, teeth like this became buried in ancient river channels and coastal sediments, slowly mineralizing and preserving until discovery by dedicated collectors.

About the Megalodon Shark
Otodus megalodon was the largest predatory shark to ever live, with estimated lengths of 50–60 feet and powerful serrated teeth built for crushing bone. During the Miocene and Pliocene epochs, it dominated warm seas across the world. Unfortunately, due to Oceanic cooling and sea level drops, along with a decline in the food supply, these sharks just could not survive and died out during the late Pliocene Era.
