Abelisaurus was a fierce theropod dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 70 to 80 million years ago. Part of the Abelisauridae family, this group of predatory dinosaurs was native to Gondwana, the ancient southern supercontinent that included parts of present-day South America, Africa, India, and Madagascar.
Abelisaurids, including Abelisaurus, Carnotaurus, and Majungasaurus, were built for speed and power, with short, muscular arms and strong jaws filled with blade-like, serrated teeth ideal for slicing flesh. Although not as large as Tyrannosaurus rex, Abelisaurus still reached lengths of up to 25–30 feet and was a top predator in its ecosystem, preying on smaller dinosaurs and possibly scavenging larger carcasses.
Fossil Abelisaurus teeth are rare and highly sought-after by collectors. These teeth are typically curved, laterally compressed, and serrated, designed for tearing into prey. Their sleek, carnivorous design makes them stand out among theropod fossils and offers a direct connection to one of the southern hemisphere’s most formidable Cretaceous predators.
Most known Abelisaurus fossils have been found in Argentina, where the genus was originally discovered. However, closely related abelisaurids have also been found in the Kem Kem Beds of Morocco, a fossil-rich region that dates to the same Late Cretaceous period.
Theropod teeth from the Kem Kem Formation are often attributed to abelisaurid dinosaurs due to their distinctive morphology, including recurved shape, serrations, and robust enamel. These Moroccan specimens offer collectors an affordable and accessible way to own a genuine fossil from a powerful Cretaceous predator.
Abelisaurus and abelisaurid teeth are prized for their rarity and visual appeal. Several factors influence their value:
Fossil Abelisaurus teeth are an excellent addition to any collection, representing a lesser-known but fascinating branch of predatory dinosaurs. These teeth appeal to collectors, educators, and dinosaur enthusiasts for their scientific significance and visual impact.
At Fossil Driven, every Abelisaurus or abelisaurid fossil tooth we offer is 100% authentic and natural. Our fossils are hand-selected from trusted sources and thoroughly examined for quality and preservation. If a specimen has undergone any repair or restoration, it will always be clearly disclosed.
Own a piece of the Late Cretaceous, a real Abelisaurus tooth fossil that captures the power and mystery of one of the southern hemisphere’s most impressive meat-eating dinosaurs.

The tooth fossil is awesome. Way cooler than I thought it would be. Condition seems great. I got a stand with it that works well and looks good. This is my first fossil, but definitely will be the start of a collection.
My only critique is that the authentication card and stand placard are not of a high quality and the aesthetic is a little cheesy. That’s easily improved and that actual item is fantastic.
Indo posty! This specifically has been on my wish list and the one I got is perfect! I Love it so much. Exactly as described. Looks better in person. Exactly like the pictures. Shipped fast, packaged securely. Literally so happy and will be displaying it with pride. Thank you!
